Schippers, J. Faculty Civil Engineering and Geosciences Department Hydraulic Engineering Date 1981-10-01 Abstract Besides that the hydraulic forces have an influence on the structure, the shape of the structure may often influence the hydraulic loads as well. A distinction should be made between hydrostatic forces which are for instance caused by a difference in head between two water levels and dynamic forces as e.g. loads resulting from the energy in waves. We give some examples of the structures which are mainly subject to hydrostatic loading. Recommendations have been discussed in order to reduce wave forces and are followed by examples Subject hydraulic forceshydraulic structures To reference this document use: http://resolver.tudelft.nl/uuid:f59cd581-ab50-48e8-b2a3-e764ccab5c37 Publisher TU Delft, Section Hydraulic Engineering Source Internal report 1981-2; Bijdrage aan het IABSE Symposium on the selection of structural form, London, England, Sept. 1981 Part of collection Institutional Repository Document type report Rights © 1981 Glerum, A., Schippers, J.
