The short plasma half-life of therapeutic proteins requests frequent administration, usually via parenteral routes. This short-coming is proposed to be solved by the development of an injectable microparticulate drug delivery system (DDS) where the proteins are encapsulated to control the release of the drugs after administration. One way of preparing a protein DDS is through the interaction of proteins and biocompatible coating materials, where the coating materials hinder the quick degradation and release of the proteins...
