(TU Delft Energie and Industrie) Date 2013 Abstract In times of restructuring governmental policies and resources, theneed for strategic asset management is growing. Maturity models offerorganisations a structure to assist them in improving their asset managementperformance. We present the results of a repeated maturity measurement basedon the infrastructure management maturity matrix (IM3) in Rijkswaterstaat, aDutch public infrastructure organisation. The IM3 distinguishes five maturitylevels from ad hoc to optimised, and seven asset management dimensions:information management, internal coordination, external coordination, marketapproach, risk management, processes and roles, and culture and leadership. The results show significant progress on all dimensions, and continued learningand widespread awareness of asset management in the organisation. In thediscussion, we reflect on the findings and possible future developments for theorganisation. We also discuss the potential impact of infrastructure maturitymodels for the professionalisation of other asset intensive organisations Subject road infrastructurequality assessmentpublic sectororganisational growthmaturity modelstrategic asset management;asset management maturityRijkswaterstaat To reference this document use: http://resolver.tudelft.nl/uuid:bc9ea446-b5d3-4d18-bf50-96736c4c8190 DOI https://doi.org/10.1504/IJSEAM.2013.060469 Embargo date 2014-07-01 ISSN 1759-9733 Source International Journal of Strategic Engineering Asset Management, 1 (4), 439-453 Part of collection Institutional Repository Document type journal article Rights © 2013 L.
