With the current criminal detection practices the Dutch National Police and Dutch Customs do not manage to intercept the majority of the illegal shipments. The resources used by the Dutch Police and Customs for criminal detection do not yet entail information from the criminal risk vs gain trade-off point of view. Therefore, this study set out to research the impact of the criminal risk vs gain trade-off on the international criminal supply chains.
