Faculty OTB Research Institute for the Built Environment Department OTB Onderzoek Date 2010-12-15 Abstract Since a few years the attention for building regulatory systems and enforcement procedures is growing. Various developments in society, politics and the construction industry have influenced changes in the systems of building control in the last 20 years. The influence of climate change and the related demands on buildings will have a very strong impact of further transformations in this field. This was a reason to initiate a new CIB taskgroup (TG79) focussing on building regulations and control in de the face of climate change. In this paper we present some research findings about the relation between regulations and actual performances of buildings. These experiences make clear that the function of building control might change in the next years.
