The objective of this study is to research the ways of making a structural model that accurately predicts the behaviour of a riveted detail. For this purpose, a critically stressed riveted node from the steel road bridge the Waalbrug (1936, Nijmegen) has been used as a case study. In the analysis, emphasised is on the riveted connections and the influence of plasticity.
