Faculty Architecture and The Built Environment Department Architectural Engineering and Technology Date 2014-01-27 Abstract This "designers' manual" is made during the TIDO-course AR0533 Innovation & Sustainability. Green façades are a fast growing trend in the field of architecture. However, designing becomes much more difficult when implementing green façades, because it is designing with living organisms. This manual can help architects to turn their visions into functioning systems. It helps them choosing the right system given certain conditions. Worldwide more and more people are living in cities and lack of space induces people to build higher and higher. Increased height also creates more difficult conditions for plants to grow, such as high wind speeds. This manual focuses on highrise in the Netherlands, as to give inspiration and to show what is possible in an temperate climate.
