We introduce a variational approach for modeling n-symmetry vector and direction fields on surfaces that supports interpolation and alignment constraints, placing singularities and local editing, while providing real-time responses. The approach is based on novel biharmonic and m-harmonic energies for n-fields on surface meshes and the...

Spectral transfer processes in magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulence are investigated by decomposition of the velocity and magnetic fields in Fourier space into helical modes. In 1992, Waleffe (Phys. Fluids A, 4:350 (1992)) used this decomposition to calculate triad interactions for isotropic hydrodynamic turbulence and determined whether a given...

We present a spectral mimetic least-squares method which is fully conservative and decouples the primal and dual variables.

This paper discusses the use of the Least-Squares Spectral Element Method in solving the linear, 1-dimensional advection-reaction equation. Well-posedness of the Least-Squares formulation will be derived. The formulation and its results will be compared to the standard Galerkin Spectral Element Method.
