Some experiences with a computer program based on a version of the Woodward panel method for the calculation of aerodynamic characteristics of bodies, wings and wing-body combinations in stationary supersonic flow are described. The method is based on the linearized theory for stationary supersonic potential flow, in which the flow around the configuration is simulated by a large number of singularities located along the body axis, in the plane of the wing and on the part of the surface of the (cylindrical) afterbody that is subject to wing-body interference. The results of some applications are discimsed and compared with corresponding experimental results and results obtained with other theoretical methods. These comparisons show that the mutual agreement is quite good and that the present method is suitable for evaluation and analysis purposes. Finally, future developments required to extend the capability of the computer program to complete airplane configurations are summarized
