This document is a short description of a model for the fluid flow through a stack of one or more layers of wiregauze. The stack may be clamped between two flat walls or mounted on a wall or be completely free from walls. The flow direction is in the plane of the gauze layer. A model for the flow through a combination of a gauze and a slit between the gauze layer and the wall is reported also. The model is ment to be used to predict the fluid transport through a gauze wick in a heat pipe. Reliable experimental results are not yet available. Desirable experiments are indicated, possibly to adjust the model.
