This paper describes a simulation model for informing policies towards absolute decoupling, with a focus on the possible contribution of servicising, i.e. a shift from product-based to service-based production and consumption patterns. The model is agent-based and represents a generic artificial market that revolves around a central consumption need. It features refined decision making procedures of producing and consuming agents, using a novel approach based on (partial) market research by business agents in the model. The model captures elements of heterogeneity and non-rational preferences of individuals and organisations. It can be parametrised for a wide variety of case studies that involve servicising shifts. Most importantly, the model allows for the exploration of economic, social and environmental effects of servicising policies.
