Architectural and urban design can significantly impact active aging. The concept of active aging plays a role in the quality of life, by supporting a mental, physical, and social active lifestyle. It is not only influenced by healthcare or social services but also by the physical environments of daily lives. A design focused on active aging can improve safety, facilitate movement, and encourage social interaction to reduce loneliness without excluding vulnerable groups, such as the elderly. Environments that are poorly designed can increase the risk of loneliness, isolation, and physical limitations, especially for vulnerable target groups.
This project aims to explore the opportunities for designing a multi-generational, inclusive environment that encourages the elderly to remain physically and mentally active and age healthily.
