The Summer Introduction Programme 2015 welcomes about 1600 international students who follow an obligatory programme. Throughout a week of project work students design a water rocket and an academic poster, get familiarized with the Delft study method, and working in multicultural groups.
In our project team, Meppel 2, we designed a water rocket based on the following design principles such as Shape for a good aerodynamic design, Less materials for light weight construction, equally distributed weight over the rocket to stabilize the weight of the overall rocket. Innovative solutions included, sustainability was considered, the fins were kept close to the nozzle to control the air stream around the rocket, Viable shape of the parachute to avoid excess material with maximum air drag, clay was used for attachments and to bring the centre of gravity towards the front increasing the efficiency. We learnt collaboration with different cultured colleagues and a very democratic way to solve opinion issues within the team from this project that will be useful in our studies.
