A method is given lor the calculation of the transfer damping of diesel engine exhaust systems. Also the complete computer program in FORTRAN IV, based on this calculation method is given. The method includes such system elements as chamber resonators, 1,5-pipes, absorbing siìencers and shunts to multiple source engines. Moreover the mean gas flow and the energy flux out of the system are incorporated. Examples are given of some calculatíon results, covering a great variety of silencer elements. The calculated transfer damping agrees on the whole closely with scale model results. Remaining problems are summarized.
