Despite the three dimensional space registration such as building and basement facilities is necessary, it is impossible to represent those right in the 2D Cadastre. We can say that it’s time to introduce 3D cadastral system for registration of land in the 3D space. The government of Seoul Metropolitan City pushed ahead a 3D cadastre pilot project from 2009. Also the Korean Government has a policy of development of a 3D National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) as an innovation to the spatial information industry to establish a base for future growth. In this paper, the result of the pilot project is reviewed. We expect that identified problems can be solved, and the 3D cadastre can be settled in the near future successfully.
