Contributor Isabella, O. (mentor) Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Department Electrical Sustainable Energy Date 2017-06-06 Abstract In the ongoing search for (new) highly efficient and cheap photovoltaic materials, orthorhombic barium disilicide has sparked recent interest. Studies have shown that BaSi2 exhibits good electrical properties, a bandgap of 1.3 eV and a high absorption coefficient. However, these studies have mainly been performed on molecular beam epitaxially grown material. In this work, barium disilicide grown by RF magnetron sputtering at room temperature and at high temperatures, is characterized . Furthermore, post-growth annealing is researched as a way to crystallize the material and thereby improve the material quality.
