Institution National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Date 1982-09-15 Abstract Computational fluid dynamics becomes an increasing important tool in the design process of aeroplanes, ships and cars. Wherever possible computational and experimental fluid dynamics are applied alternately in the design process. By means of techniques that are under development to support computer aided design, the problem must be solved to handle the large amount of data that is involved in the design process. introduction of computer aided design in an organisation leads to a combination of technical and organisational problems. In the present paper attention is paid to both the infrastructure for information processing and the infrastructure for organisational control. Invited paper presented at a symposium for users of finite element methods, Delft Technical University, September 3, 1982.
