There is a growing need for alternatives regarding aviation; the Hyperloop might offer a partial solution. However, there is a gap in knowledge, case studies and design concepts to investigate how the new system could be connected to aviation at airports. Such a space does not exist yet, and is therefore relatively undiscovered territory.

This brings up the following question: What kind of space do we need in order to make passenger exchange between Hyperloop and aviation possible, and what does that look like in architectural terms?

Would you feel relaxed in hospital? Would you choose to meet a friend there? Would you like to spend your free time there? The answer for most people is no. Hospitals have always been synonymous with fear and sadness. Although it relates to the fact that life and death is a heavy topic, the hospital’s factory-like model and oppressive space exacerbate the negative emotions.
This situation is even worse for elderly people. According to a CNN Health survey, the older you are, the worse the hospital is for you. But on the other hand, Germany is even entering a super-ageing society. According to the United Nations Health Organi-sation, 27.6% of the population in Germany is over 60 years old, the second highest population in the world after Japan.1 And in the German healthcare system, more than 60.5% of patients are older than 60. Geriatric medicine department’s average length of stay of 15.2 days is twice the average, ranking first among all departments.
All the facts prove that hospitals, which have remained unchanged for decades, need a revolution. The best future hospital is NOT hospital, at least not the way it is now. This article studies the body perspective to provide an excellent healthcare experi-ence for elderly patients. Filling the gap between society, hospital and home, ena-bling the revolution from hospital to house.

Train stations are becoming an increasingly important part of urban life. They are the connection between different transport hubs, a social interaction platform, and part of a culture or daily routine. However, many train stations are designed to meet only the first demand, “transporting people and making the city accessible”. Many stations in Berlin are designed with these thoughts and are therefore unattractive to many passengers travelling to and from the city, leaving other modes of transportation dominant.

The design for a new train station in Berlin will primarily respond to creating a unique traveller experience to enhance the user experience. Digital media and automation technologies play an essential role in this, allowing the station user to configure their own experience at the station according to their needs. The station within which these technologies can serve the user will also have to change its character.

Adding features related to service and experience should ensure that a new platform is created that encourages travellers to use the public transport network. Moreover, adding these themes in a station reduces travel time and enhances the user experience.

The design extends the standard train station by integrating automation technologies that allow travellers to perform daily actions at the station faster. For instance, car and bicycle parking in the station is automated, eliminating parking operations. Moreover, the station will also feature service cores. Integrated into these cores are automated food and package services and digital media that can provide users with necessary travel information, daily news and weather, exhibition display and events.

Besides the addition of automation technologies, the building will also have various functions related to the traveller’s daily routine, facilitating social activities and providing work and study places. Through interactive screens in the station or the telephone, travellers can pre-select the desired functions they will use at the station. The station configures its layout using this data to make the required space available.

Finally, in addition to classifying their travel experience at the station, users can configure their space in terms of spaciousness and climate. By applying these new functions and techniques, the station will no longer be a monotonous building for the user but will be able to react to needs and adapt to current and future use.

The task of a courthouse is to facilitate the correct and fair execution of justice. Consequently, the building must not only meet all functional requirements, but also take the human impact on the court proceedings into account. Since conflicts, stress and concentration have a decisive influence on trials, this graduation project explores the question of what spatial qualities influence the user's experience in a manner that improves the efficiency of processes in a courthouse. The final design is a regional court for Berlin that exclusively handles criminal trials.

The Berlin Open Depot complements the cultural heart of Kulturforum, the cultural center of Berlin, located on Potsdamer Straße in the Berlin-Tiergarten district, situated on one of the busiest transportation nodes of Berlin. It is a center for a wide range of exhibition types and stands among the global frontrunners in the field of innovative exhibition experience. The Berlin Open Depot transcends the typical structure of museum buildings, adopting a new approach in its design and layout. The design pushes the boundaries of exhibition and storage spaces, consequently forming a solid, yet flexible space that can facilitate unlimited forms of exhibition. Due to its multidimensional design, the Berlin Open Depot extends beyond the confines of display, exhibition or showcase. It can also serve as a space for events, lectures, or workshops and can be curated by artists as an ever changing canvas.

The project attempts to address the types of spaces needed to guide the AI revolution constructively. Currently, an AI revolution is unfolding, as reported in newspapers, broadcasted on the news, and discussed on the radio. Socially, it’s a significant topic, as many users are unaware of what AI is and its functions. This underscores the importance of designing a building that illustrates to society how these AIs are implemented and who is behind them, while also fostering discussions and inquiries.

The project 'House of Textiles' investigates the extent to which an architectural intervention is capable of giving hope, inspiration and encouraging innovation to a challenged place like Beirut. The project explores different ways of representing these assets through its architectural language and expression. Its significance for Lebanon’s textile production, the country’s waste crisis, as well as social and economic prospects is asking for an iconic landmark, which represents the building’s identity.
The formulation of these aspects in an architectural way is explored through spatial concepts that support their requirements. Strong visibility, accessibility, representation and adaptability are being tested in different layers. These aspects form the most important ingredients of the project. The question of how a building can represent the same level of innovation and development, as the proposed change in Lebanon’s textile industry has been guiding the design process.

Over the last century, Rotterdam has become one of the world’s key port cities and will continue to broaden its horizons. Feijenpoort area, located in the city district Feijenoord, became one of the migrant labourers‘residential areas during this period. Since, it has been regarded as a socio-economically challenged, deteriorated and underprivileged part of Rotterdam. Today’s multi-cultural population’s well-being is considered one of Rotterdam’s lowest and the municipality seeks to remedy this in a sustainable way. An approved urban waterfront development strategy based on gentrification and targeting mid- to high-income groups however, might lead to even more urban anxiety and socio-economic related stress for the existing community. By acknowledging that well-being must be defined as a system of interconnected dimensions of physical, mental and social well-being the project investigates how this might be used to improve the poor conditions of Feijenpoort through architecture. How can spaces oriented at well-being let city residents flourish in a context of sustainable city development? The project targets mental well-being as the way to enhance multiple dimensions of well-being. It aims to achieve this through its educational and cultural program and concept as the Performing arts academy for youngsters. The design integrates biophilic design principles with art education. With the premise of combining biophilic design principles with lessons learned from educational typologies, the Performing arts academy aims to enhance the community’s mental well-being. The project gathers neighborhood and urban goals by harmonizing the boundaries between nature and spaces that encourage physical activity are socially stimulating and mentally rewarding to its users. The design aims to enhance encounters and encourages inclusive interaction by creating an abundance of informal setting where spontaneous public performances may take place.

The ways in which we harness biomass for biofuels are inextricably linked to water management, food security, waste management, and societal well-being. Whilst the increased use of biomass for biofuel within the Netherlands is considered a positive move, external factors known as indirect land-use change make current practices more unsustainable than consumers think. ‘The Migration of Energy’ therefore looks at the Dutch transition towards a bio-based economy. Such an economy recognises the true cost of natural capital and values nature’s capacity to produce balanced and sustained energy, food, and water. Within primary industry, the concept of balance is used to convert typically wasted resources into value-added, bio-based products.

This project proposes a three-step transition towards a new energy commitment. Firstly, a move away from conventional biofuels such as corn and wood pellets towards more energy-dense, less environmentally impactful biomass derived from microalgae as an advanced biofuel. Secondly, the facilitation of opportunities for public engagement, giving them agency to become more active stakeholders within the transition. Thirdly, the establishment of an emblem showcasing Rotterdam’s values and commitment towards a more sustainable renewable energy transition.

The Feyenoord City Football Stadium in Rotterdam, also known as the Kuip, is not just a municipal monument. It is also a landmark of cultural value, collective identity and national pride situated within the district of Feyenoord in Rotterdam South. The Kuip could potentially be succeeded by a new stadium, enabling a significant opportunity to create an ‘emblem’ for Rotterdam’s bio-economy transition.

This new 'Centre for Bio-Based Research and Recreation' is proposed as a 'productive landscape’. This will bring conventionally private primary industry to the forefront of public consciousness by integrating public recreational sports and leisure activities within visible energy and water management processes. Thus, creating opportunities for interaction and transparency between key stakeholders. This research and design proposal, therefore, aims to identify the programmatic capacity for an emblem to act as an educational and interactive tool for the public. Exploring architecture as a device to captivate Rotterdam and the Netherlands into a sustainable, bio-based future. Therefore, ensuring an increased societal valuation of natural capital that better reflects its true cost.

Street, as the fundamental infrastructure for circulation, access and connectivity,
is the crucial public space that supports economic, social and cultural activities.
Moreover, the identity and development of city would be influenced by the street. Since the street was taken as a unit of planning in the 16th century, it has been researched in different aspects to support a more efficient and colorful urban life.

Located in the south of Europe Cultural Capital - Rotterdam, the Feijenoord
district suffers from congested streets, lack of social events and urban disconnection. The streets are mainly for vehicles rather than pedestrian and social activities. As the city municipal pays more attention to the future development of Rotterdam South, the street becomes one of the most useful spatial tools to facilitate urban life and offer better urban connections.

Based on the problems above, this article addresses the relationships among social activities, street space and atmosphere. Further, several spatial modes of the street are given as options for the design project. Through the site research of Feijenoord, the Mobility Hub Project is proposed as the convergent zone to
integrate the district in terms of street.

Play, as a practise which has a huge impact on individual human growth and social relationships, has been researched in contexts of multiple disciplinary fields. Theories of play have been developed in different realms and instructed the design of diverse play spaces. Specific architectural typologies as well as general principles of urban planning have been taking inspirations from the migrated idea of ‘play’. However, few studies or practices have explored how ‘play’ can be applied on a neighbourhood level as a solution to the poor development of both its residents and the community itself. This paper takes Feijenpoort area as a research subject to address the missing intermediate dimensions in the migration of ‘play’. Through historical research this paper argues a correlation of the emergence of new behavioural and spatial play to the social condition. A new design program of ‘play-cycle’ is proposed after comparative studies of existing play space typologies to revitalise the neighbourhoods through positive participation of its young population.
