Abstract

A wind-tunnel investigation was carried out on an oscillating model of the F-5 wing with and without an external store (AIM-9J missile). Detailed steady and unsteady pressure distributions were obtained over the wing, while on the store total aerodynamic loads were measured. The tests covered the Mach number range between Ma = 0.6 and Ma = 1.35, and reduced frequencies ranging up to K = 0.4 at Ma = 0.6 and to K = 0.2 at Ma = 1.35. This report (part IV) gives an analysis of the results of the configuration with the store mounted at a pylon under the wing. Emphasis is put on the influence of the pylon and store on the wing loading and further on the loads acting on the pylon and store itself. A comparison is presented of experimental data and theoretical results obtained with the unsteady NLRI and Doublet Lattice methods.
