MPTE concept description

Abstract

The European Robotic Arm (ERA) programme distinguishes ERA Flight Equipment, ERA Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and ERA Ground Equipment (GE). The GE covers the items needed to prepare, perform and evaluate the ERA flight operations. The GE is fiirther split-up in Ground Control Equipment (GCE) and the Mission Preparation and Training Equipment (MPTE). The MPTE will be used for mission preparation, operator training, on-line mission support and mission evaluation of ERA missions and ERA operations. Additionally the MPTE will allow to maintain the ERA Ground and Flight Operational Software. The purpose of this document is to provide a concept description of the Mission Preparation and Training Equipment. This concept will give a first impression of what the MPTE is and how it will be used. Furthermore, a possible hardware and software architecture is discussed.
