Abstract
Equations are derived from which it is possible to calculate the magnitude of the errors in inertial velocity, heading and gyro precession rate which occur in a long range inertial navigation system due to misalignment of the main inertial components. A practical case is considered, based on the accuracy of alignment possible with the components used in present day aircraft systems and maximum values for the errors are obtained for specified flight conditions.
