Abstract

This research studies, by means of the analysis of a paradigmatic large urban project in Buenos Aires, the production process of a large urban project furthered by the State and directed to create a new centrality. The analysis is focused on the forces supporting and opposition the project that were expressed by various social actors involved (state, economic, community and politic stakeholders). These came to light as the same moment as a political decision was made about the project influencing its development and its final outcome. The general objective of the study is to provide conceptual an empirical elements which help to understand the interaction between production of new built spaces, territory and social forces. Additionally, it is intended to throw light on how this affects the management of large contemporary projects.
