(mentor) Faculty Industrial Design Engineering Department Design Engineering Programme Integrated Product Design Date 2014-06-19 Abstract Two important barriers in adopting rooftop PV are the (perceived) lack of compatibility with current (tiled) roofs and the poor aesthetics of roof-mounted PV panels. This has led to the idea of PV roof tiles, which could take away these barriers. The Delft-based company FlexSol Solutions has the unique capability of curving highly efficient crystalline silicon PV cells, which offers a unique advantage in the design of a PV roof tile. This is why the design possibilities for such a product were explored in this project.
