This thesis explores the potential of automated generation of BHS concept designs for airports. Concept design for BHS's can be defined as the design of the system configuration (which equipment to use and how many equipment pieces) and system layout (volume reservation for the system). The model that has been created searches for different configurations based on a trade-off between capital expenditure and system area. It allows the designer to select a desirable solution for which a block-layout will be generated.
