Abstract

The report in firont of you is the second report in a series of two, the first report entitied "Human Factors in Virtual Environments, part I: literature study" was written as a theoretical study in the field of virtual environments. This report describes the use of virtual environment technology for training of cosmonauts in the use of the European Robotic Arm (ERA). It also contains the description of a program suited to investigate the influence of several parameters on the depth perception in a typical virtual environment as it could be created in the Mission Preparation and Training Equipment (MPTE) project, currently under development at the NLR.
