In this paper an experimental set up for testing of multi-axial connections made of unconventional building materials is presented. The aim is to test the effects of torsion and bending on nodes which are hard to test with standard devices. Comparison between FEM analysis and the testing results is made. The main conclusion is that there is direct correlation between those two. Hence the experimental testing method shows potential for further development using more reliable materials (to develop the testing device). The structural system examined and joints that were tested were designed for a case-study, “House-1”, a frame structure built within the context of the Research Project BAMP! Building with paper. The structural beams are paper-tubes. The stiffness of those has been examined beforehand, hence performance for compression, tension and bending and therefore is taken as an input for the experiments presented in this paper.
