Abstract

Printing is indispensible in a lot of businesses. Although the use of digital media is on the rise the need for permanent printed media is still quite stable. However, the high price of printer cartridges coupled with the frustration of having to change them ever so often, places a huge burden on consumers. Almost 70% of the total ownership cost of printers is spent on print supplies and this paces a huge burden on the customer price of printing ink. The aim of the project is to evaluate the possibility of printing in monochrome without need to use consumables such as in/toner in order to print. During the course of the project the market need for inkfree printer is evaluated and established and the product is developed.
