Abstract

Introduction of the Wide-Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS) and its based Wide Area Monitoring, Protection & Control (WAMPAC) systems to electric power
network require certain responses and adaptations from supporting information and communications technology (ICT) systems. The paper deals with WAMS aspects that are important to the ICT network design and operation.
Furthermore it describes services, mechanisms and protocols which can assure the required ICT servicelevel agreement (SLA) parameters. In same way an
introduction of services to ICT networks in practice is also presented. Furthermore the article presents simulation results of WAMS communication network with and without taking to WAMS proposed SLA recommendations into account.
