Abstract

Change propagation is undesirable for a manufacturer when a change to one part or component of the system requires additional changes throughout the manufacturing system. The robustness and adaptability are key attributes for a complex system to cope with effects of change. This paper presents a multilayer network model for analysis and management of change propagation. In addition, a combination of Multi Domain Matrix (MDM) and Change Prediction Model (CPM) as system process analyses tools are used to evaluate the risk of change propagation. The objective of the technique is to increase system knowledge at the design stage, to provide insight into the effects of manufacturing change, and to support engineers in decision-making.
