Abstract

The continuous evolution of wireless technologies, including communications, radar, and imaging, has necessitated the adoption of active phased-array systems. As demand for higher data rates and lower latency grows, applications increasingly use higher frequency bands, such as millimeter-wave and beyond. While these frequencies offer significant advantages in terms of bandwidth and realized gain, they also require dense system integration. A critical challenge in high-frequency operation is the inherent reduction in the efficiency of active components. Power-hungry components, most notably Power Amplifiers (PAs), exhibit low efficiencies with high linearity requirements, resulting in substantial heat generation. When combined with the high integration density of modern arrays, this heat accumulation poses a severe threat to system reliability and performance, requiring a holistic approach to thermal management and electromagnetic design.....
