Abstract

De.sul.fu.ri.ba.cil’li.a. N.L. pl. n. Desulfuribacillia the class of the type order Desulfuribacillales.
Class Desulfuribacillia forms a deep-branching phylogenetic lineage at the base of the phylum Firmicutes and includes obligately anaerobic haloalkaliphilic bacteria with respiratorymetabolism. It consists of a single order Desulfuribacillales, family Desulfuribacillaceae, and genus Desulfuribacillus.
Type order: Desulfuribacillales.
