Abstract

In 2004 Delft University of Technology has developed a forest floor interception measuring device.
It measures the evaporation from interception of the forest floor.
The device consists of a permeable upper basin filled with forest floor and a watertight lower basin that are weighed continuously with strain gauges.
Rainfall is measured with a tipping bucket near the interception device.

Evaporation measurement.
Area basin 0.36 m2, 2x3 strain gauges: type FLA-6, resistance 120 Ohm.
Valve (<18 jan 2006): electronic magnetic valve Type: MBMG2Z-1263008-12V. (KOBOLD Instrumentatie BV, Arnhem)
Valve (> 18 jan 2006): electronic magnetic valve (12VDC) Type: MBMG2Z-1264020. Messing 3/4 "(?) (KOBOLD Instrumentatie BV, Arnhem)
Temperature sensor: LM335, output 10 mV/K (Farnell).
IMD descriptions of Huewelerbach and Westerbork are almost equal, including date of valve change. Is this correct?
Meaning of data is unclear (?)
