Abstract
The numerical simulation of the interaction of a flexible structure with a contiguous fluid flow is of critical importance to a multitude of applications, including the analysis of aero-elastic instabilities such as flutter in aerospace engineering [1,2] and the investigation of cardiovascular disorders, such as vulnerable plaques and aneurysms in biomechanics [3,4].
