Abstract
An analysis has been carried out on the vertical load factor experience of Boeing B-747 aircraft, using AIDS-recorded data for three different operators. Relatively few load peaks occurred at cruise altitude (> 30.000 ft) during the time period 1974-1976, compared to the time period 1977-1985. No direct explanation for this difference, which was shown to be statistically significant, could be found.
