Through spatial planning, the province of South Holland plays a role in this process. However, this requires insights into relation between the energy system and the built environment that is currently lacking. This thesis shows how spatial clustering using the K-prototype algorithm can be used to find areas with similar characteristics. It also describes how this information can be used in spatial planning by decisionmakers like the province of South Holland.
