Abstract

The main goal of this research is to find an approach to assure both mobility- and policy goals in densely populated urban areas. Characteristics of these areas are a high amount of roads, a wide range of route choice possibilities and a large degree of entanglement with pedestrian- bicycle and public transport networks. Travel times are largely influenced by controlled intersections. For this approach, the existing GGB approach is used and is adapted for the use in urban networks. The proposed traffic management design framework is applied in a case study for the city centre of Eindhoven.
