Institution National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Date 1993-11-16 Abstract Man-machine research issues with respect to teleoperation are identified. The main application which is considered is the External Robot Arm (ERA). Resulting experiments are described to a level that requirements for the future test facility can be derived. Identified research issues are categorized as planning, observability (visibility and failure detection), and controllability issues. Some requirements for the data collection, training, and subject selection are also derived. To avoid duplication of efforts, an alignment of work with the Delft University of Technology was established. This report reflects the output of WP 1021 of the project Teleoperation of Space Manipulators awarded by NIVR (contract number 03206N).
