Low temperature operation of a catalytic combustion heater

Starting and operating tests using two fuels were conducted on a catalytic heater over a temperature range from 700 F to -600 F. The fuel consumption rate was found to be a function of ambient temperature. An aliphatic solvent fuel resulted in a higher heat output at all temperatures than that obtained with naphtha.
