(mentor) Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Department IRCTR Programme Telecommunications Date 2011-01-11 Abstract Radio telescopes are quite often used for astronomy. Since these telescopes are wideband systems, they encounter standing waves between the reflector and the feed. This interaction has been studied by investigation the radar cross section (RCS) of the feed and the effect the standing waves have on the antenna performance (gain and beamwidth).
