Abstract

In this thesis, the development and implementation of a new precision RC-locked oscillator topology suitable for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is described. The objective of this thesis was to investigate the performance of the proposed topology and to compare this with the state-of-the-art in terms of accuracy and power consumption. The new oscillator was implemented in a 0.16 µm CMOS process. The prototype was su?ciently functional to be tested. It achieved a frequency inaccuracy of ±0.9% (3? based on 12 samples) from -40C to 125C, consuming 37 µW power. The achieved performance is comparable to the state-of-the-art, for a wider temperature range and for signi?cantly more samples.
