Institution National Aerospace Laboratory NLR Date 1994-08-25 Abstract SOLEQS is a sequential three-dimensional multi-block multi-zone compressible Navier-Stokes solver, produced by NLR. In this paper is described how this large-scale application code in the order of 120,000 lines can be parallelized towards different computing platforms in a structured and manageable way. This paralellization is done step-wise, which enables paying careful attention to e.g. the communication and load balancing aspects of the solver. An efficient implementation is developed specifically targeted for RISC-based IBM parallel platforms. Performance results and communication characteristics on an IBM workstation cluster and IBM SPl are presented and discussed.
