Abstract

To solve coastal sediment transport and morphology problems, it is necessary to construct a hydrodynamics model to simulate the fluid flow. The hydrodynamics model is then used to calculate sediment transport rates and in turn, these sediment transport rates are used to determine morphology. The hydrodynamics model is based on the Equation of Motion and the Equation of Continuity. The following subject about coastal morphology computations are discussed: 1. Quasi three-dimensional model 2. One-dimensional model 3. Analytical solutions 4. Numerical solutions 5. Effective breaking angle and small angle assumptions Finally some examples are given.
