Abstract
Hunters Point, a vacant naval yard in San Francisco has potential to be developed as a community and research hub that focusses on water related challenges. For socio-economical challenged neighbourhoods that surround this area, the community and hub can provide jobs and an identity. Within the studio Delta Interentions, water is a central theme. As Hunters Point is prone to flood, this makes it an interesting case. Most of the challenges related to water are adressed in the master plan, while the connection to the water is addressed in the design. A dry-dock splits Hunters Point in two, the community centre that I have designed connects both these parts by enabling the water in the dry-dock for interaction.
