In the heart of southern Iran’s arid expanse lies Siraf, a testament to the enduring bond between water and civilisation. This port city flourished in the 9th and 10th centuries, sustained by ingenious water management. Exploring Siraf’s water heritage reveals a cultural landscape shaped by the symbiotic relationship between water and human innovation. Through meticulous analysis of technical reports, excavation records, interviews, and historical accounts, this research aims to understand Siraf’s water heritage landscape using an interdisciplinary landscape-based approach. This approach integrates insights from archaeology, geology, geohydrology, and agriculture to provide a holistic view of the interconnectedness of natural and cultural elements. These dynamic systems inspire sustainable practices through landscape-based solutions considering natural and cultural landscape features to address urban challenges. As we face climate change and urbanisation, understanding and preserving Siraf’s water heritage landscapes through an interdisciplinary approach provide a roadmap for a more resilient future.

This study aims to present a regeneration process for historical spaces based on the notion of collective memory. We argue for the necessity of simultaneously studying conservation and rehabilitation policies for restoring and continuing the collective memory of historical spaces. This approach can effectively preserve and shape the collective memory of historical spaces by focusing on preservation and valuing the landscape as a major key between place and humans. The historical ChaharBagh Avenue from the Safavid era in Isfahan serves as a case study. Over time, the social and cultural significance and value of ChaharBagh Avenue as a historical public space and collective memory is diminishing due to inconsistent renewal policies. The study employs a qualitative approach, including field studies and interviews with 32 citizens of Isfahan, to suggest a model for sustainable regeneration and conservation of historical urban sites based on collective memory.

بیان مسئله: مناظر روستایی به‌عنوان مناظر متداوم فرهنگی، نشان‌دهنده عینی تکامل جامعه انسانی و استقرار آن ها در طول زمان هستند، مناظری که تحت تأثیر جریان‌های فرهنگی و یا طبیعی بستر خود تغییر و تکامل می‌یابند. تعامل انسان با طبیعت و تداوم این مناظر، ارزش‎های برجسته متعددی را در مناظر روستایی به وجود آورده که بیانگر ارزش‌های ملموس و ناملموس یا به عبارتی اهمیت معنایی آن است. در اسناد بین‌المللی بر ضرورت توسعه چارچوب مفهومی و شناسایی این ارزش‌ها به‌عنوان مؤلفه‌ای کلیدی در فرآیند حفاظت این مناظر تأکید ویژه گردیده است، به‌طوری‌که هر کوششی در راستای حفاظت و بازآفرینی مناظر روستایی، در اصل کمکی به بقای فرهنگ و پایداری طبیعت یک سرزمین است.

هدف: شناسایی و دسته‌بندی ارزش‌های موجود در مناظر روستایی به‌منظور بازآفرینی و حفاظت پایدار از چنین محیط‌هایی و انتقال دانش جمعی و معانی فرهنگی آن به نسل‎های آینده

روش‌ها: این پژوهش ابتدا از طریق بازخوانی اسناد و کنوانسیون‌های بین‌المللی و بررسی دیدگاه‌های صاحب‌نظران، به تعریف مفهوم منظر فرهنگی و تدوین چارچوب مفهومی و جایگاه منظر روستایی می‌پردازد. سپس با توجه به بررسی‌های به عمل آمده، ارزش‌‌های موجود در مناظر روستایی دسته‌بندی و تبیین می‎شوند و در نهایت مدلی برای بازآفرینی و حفاظت از مناظر روستایی ارائه می‌شود.

یافته‌ها: در این پژوهش ارزش‌های موجود در مناظر روستایی به دو گروه ارزش‌های طبیعی و ملموس و ارزش‌های فرهنگی و ناملموس دسته‌بندی شدند، ارزش‌های طبیعی و ملموس شامل ارزش‌های زیست‌محیطی، کالبدی، اقتصادی و آموزشی و ارزش‌های فرهنگی و ناملموس شامل ارزش‌های فرهنگی، معنوی، اجتماعی و تفریحی هستند، اگرچه در برخی موارد، ارزش‌ها تلفیقی از هر دو دسته هستند و تدقیق آن ها بسیار دشوار است.

نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به ارزش‌های موجود، مدلی برای بازآفرینی و حفاظت از مناظر روستایی ارائه‌شده است که ضروریست به‌منظور هماهنگی با تغییر در اولویت‌بندی این ارزش‌ها، در حفاظت از آن ها به جنبه‌های پویا و چند عملکردی ارزش‌های منظر توجه بیشتری شود.

Statement of Problem: Rural landscapes, as continuing cultural landscapes, represent the natural personality of their community over time, landscapes that change under the influence of cultural and natural currents in their context. Human interaction with nature and the continuity of these landscapes have created several outstanding values in rural landscapes that express tangible and intangible values or in other words, its semantic importance. International documents emphasize the need to develop a conceptual framework and identify these values as a key component in the process of conservation of these landscapes, so that any effort to protect and regenerate rural landscapes, in principle, helps to preserve culture and sustainability of a land.

Aims: To identify and categorize the values of rural landscapes in order to regenerate and sustainably protect such environments and transfer their collective knowledge and cultural meanings to future generations.

Methods: This research first defines the concept of cultural landscape and formulates the conceptual framework and position of rural landscape by reviewing international documents and conventions and examining the views of experts. Then, according to the studies, the values in rural landscapes are classified and explained and finally, a model for regenerating and preserving rural landscapes is presented.

Findings: In this study, the values of rural landscapes divided into two groups: natural and tangible values and cultural and intangible values. Natural and tangible values including environmental, physical, economic and educational values, and cultural and intangibles values include cultural, spiritual, social, and recreational ones. Although in some cases, values are a combination of both, so they are very difficult to refine.

Results: Considering the existing values, a model for recreating and protecting rural landscapes has been presented, which in order to coordinate with the change in the prioritization of these values, it is necessary to pay more attention to their dynamic and multifunctional aspects.

مناظر فرهنگی نشان دهنده عینی تکامل جامعه انسانی و استقرار آن ها در طول زمان هستند، عناصری که تحت تاثیر جریان های فرهنگی و یا طبیعی بستر خود تغییر و تکامل می یابند. بنابراین هر کوششی در راستای حفاظت و باز آفرینی آن، در اصل کمکی به بقای فرهنگ و پایداری طبیعت یک سرزمین است. مناظر فرهنگی علاوه بر لایه های طبیعی و زیست محیطی دارای لایه های ارزشمند تاریخی و فرهنگی هستند، بنابراین در احیای آنها، تنها نگهداری و حفاظت از کالبد منظر به معنای تداوم ارزش‎های ناملموس منظر نیست و سبب از بین رفتن ارزش های فرهنگی منظر می شود بنابراین نمی توان به احیای آنها در چارچوبی محدود و با تبصره‎های مشخص پرداخت. این امر نیازمند رویکردی انعطاف پذیر است که معمار منظر با مطالعه منظر فرهنگی و تاریخی سایت و شناخت جنبه های مختلف شکل دهنده منظر در ابعاد مختلف، در کنار توجه به اصول و قواعد احیا و حفاظت به مرمت آن بپردازد. بازآفرینی یکی از اصلی ترین رویکردهای مدیریت و حفاظت در دوران معاصر است که در حفاظت از منظر فرهنگی ضمن حفظ ویژگی‎های ارزشی مکان، می تواند به خلق ویژگی های جدید و متناسب با نیازهای معاصر بپردازد. در این پژوهش ابتدا تعریف منظر فرهنگی و معرفی مولفه ها و عوامل شکل دهنده آن ارائه شده است سپس رویکرد های متداول بازآفرینی منظر فرهنگی بررسی و در نهایت رویکرد متناسب در جهت بازآفرینی جامع و یکپارچه این مولفه ها معرفی می شود. Cultural landscapes are the evolution of human society and settlement over time, under the influence of the physical constraints and/or opportunities presented by their natural environment and of successive social, economic and cultural forces, both external and internal. Therefore, any effort to protect and regenerate it is essentially a contribution to the survival of culture and the sustainability of a land's nature. In addition to natural and environmental layers, cultural landscapes have valuable historical and cultural layers, so in their revival, the preservation and protection of the landscape's tangible values are not enough and cause the destruction of intangible and cultural values of the landscape. Therefore, it is not possible to revive them in a limited framework and with specific comments. This requires a flexible approach that the landscape architect by restoring the cultural and historical landscape of the site and recognizing the various aspects that shape the landscape in different dimensions, along with paying attention to the principles and rules of restoration and protection to restore it. Regenerating is one of the main approaches of management and conservation in the contemporary era, which in the protection of cultural landscape while preserving the valuable features of the place, can create new features and tailored to contemporary needs. In this research, first the definition of cultural landscape and the introduction of its components and factors are presented, then the common approaches to cultural landscape recreation are reviewed and finally the appropriate approach for comprehensive and integrated recreation of these components is introduced.
