This thesis presents the design of a Sublimation-Based Solid-State Propellant Storage System for Low-Pressure Micro-Resistojet thruster, addressing limitations of traditional liquid and gaseous propellant systems for small satellites. The design utilizes water ice, leveraging its sublimation to generate feed pressure, thus eliminating complex mechanical feed systems. The final design is composed of 26 components (13 COTS, 13 custom-made from aluminum 6061 or polypropylene) , a thermoelectric cooler for thermal control, and a micro-servo for heat sink connection, with a peak power usage of 20 W. A physical prototype provided crucial assembly and maneuverability insights. This project demonstrates the practical feasibility of sublimation-based micropropulsion, laying a strong foundation for future advancements through experimental validation and integrated control system development.
