This housing project is one of Hertzbergers earliest designs, while working on his own definition of Structuralism and architectural polyvalence. A space defined as the capacity of a space to generate pertinent solutions for unforeseen situations is translated into specific motifs that prioritize spatial conditions over fixed functions. But are the design intentions of Hertzberger as visible in the early sketches found in the archives or is it only in the theories, mostly written by Hertzberger himself.
