We compare the near-field imaging of a free standing perforated metal film and a PMMAgraphite composite film with arrays of periodic holes at the terahertz frequency range of from 0.05 THz to 1.65 THz region.

We have developed a terahertz near-field imaging system detecting both amplitude and phase of the electric field spatiotemporally. Imaging one-dimensional slits on metal substrate reveals both propagating and surface-bound waves, strongly dependent on the frequency.
