Abstract
Dutch housing built before the 1990s consumes the highest percentage of
primary energy for heating and generally exhibits poor comfort. With the government targeting to convert 300,000 existing homes to become more energy-efficient every year, a renovation wave has started. How do we achieve this? This paper proposes a natural air-conditioning refurbishment strategy which not only provides energy savings but also contributes towards renewable energy harvesting to address the goal of a zeroenergy built environment.
