Abstract

This thesis studies virtual source location optimization for binaural beamforming. A new multi-microphone HRTF dataset is measured and used to evaluate all virtual-source subsets with an ITF reconstruction error metric. Results show many near-optimal, non-unique configurations with strong sensitivity to system parameters, and diminishing gains beyond about six microphones.
