Abstract

Paul van de Laar (Amsterdam, 1959) promoveerde in 1991 als economisch historicus op een proefschrift over het financieringsgedrag van de Rotterdamse maritieme sector na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Hij is sinds 1997 bijzonder hoogleraar Geschiedenis van Rotterdam aan de Erasmus Universiteit en daarnaast jarenlang directeur van het Museum Rotterdam. Sinds 2020 is hij hoogleraar Cities as portals of Globalization en hoofd van de Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication.
